Sixty media professionals from across Africa will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge, skills, and networks as part of a new Chevening Fellowship programme announced by UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.The Chevening Africa Media Freedom Fellowship will focus on promoting and protecting media freedom, and forms part of a global effort led by the UK and Canada to improve the safety of journalists. Chevening Partners, Scholars, and Alumni gathered at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Wednesday, 21 March to share stories about the ‘life-changing’ Chevening programme, in an evening held to thank partners for their support. Guests were welcomed to the FCO’s Durbar Court by the Rt Hon Mark Field MP, Minister of State, who said: ‘On my visits I meet Chevening Alumni whenever I can. Invariably they tell me that the scholarship has made a huge difference to their lives.’ Read more
