Chevening Fellowships in Venezuela

Chevening Fellowships are awarded to talented professionals who are potential future leaders, decision-makers, and opinion formers. The fellowships offer financial support to mid-career professionals already in positions of leadership and influence. These people are active in their field or subject and are looking to further enhance and expand their knowledge, skills and expertise by spending time in the UK on a short course or for a predetermined period of self-directed research.

Applications for all fellowships listed below close at 12 GMT (midday UK time) on the advertised deadline.

How to apply

Applications for Chevening Fellowships can be submitted using the Chevening online application system, available through the 'apply' button on this page.

Prior to starting your application for a Chevening Fellowship please ensure you have the following ready:

Essential:

  • Two references to be provided in a letter format and written in English
  • Valid passport/national ID card
  • University transcripts (undergraduate, postgraduate)

Please note that only documents in PDF format can be uploaded and documents cannot be over 5MB in size.

Optional:

  • English language (if already met the requirements) 

You can submit your initial application without the optional document and upload them to your application at a later date.

The British Embassy in Caracas and the Chevening Alumni Association are carrying out a series of masterclasses to foster discussions on topics of interest for Venezuela and the UK and deepen links between universities from both countries. The first masterclass took place on 5 December 2016 at Catholic University Andrés Bello (UCAB). It celebrated international Human Rights Day with a discussion on the 'Origin and Development of the Universal Human Rights System'. Read more

Chevening Scholars had the privilege of an exclusive tour of 10 Downing Street on Wednesday, 12 April, the official residence and office of the UK Prime Minister. 24 scholars won the chance to get a rare glimpse behind the famous black door, inside an historic and elegant building where key decisions have been taken in the UK since 1735, including this week's decision to call a general election. Chevening Scholars seized the opportunity to learn about Welsh politics, language, and cultural distinctiveness through a trip to the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff.  The day-long event was part of the 'Best of British presents…’ series of trips which aims to showcase the national identities, cultures, and political institutions of the four constituent nations that make up the United Kingdom. On 4 March, Chevening Scholars gathered with their families at the British Embassy in Seoul to learn about and discuss the global food crisis at an event co-hosted with Oxfam. The event, titled ‘OXFAM X Sam Kim Food Truck’, gave participants the chance to taste Korean chef Sam Kim’s pasta, learn more about Oxfam Korea’s work, fundraise for Oxfam Korea, and be reminded of how precious a meal can be in a world where not everyone is so lucky.   Read more
