Chevening and HSBC
HSBC has a responsibility to invest in the long term prosperity of the communities we serve. Our work on education aims to help young people reach their potential so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and wider society. Of our global community investment budget, 50%, is spent on education.
Our partnership with Chevening is purely philanthropic. However, it provides us with opportunity to share our values with 30 scholars each year.
The Chevening/HSBC Partnership dates back more than a decade and has supported 460 Chevening Scholars in that time. HSBC’s Global Education Programme contributes to up to 30 Chevening Scholarships each year. Scholars are able to study for up to 12 months in the UK at postgraduate level. Courses can be at any UK university and in any field, although the bias is towards finance- or environmental-related courses. Local HSBC representatives work closely with British embassy or high commission staff to interview and select high quality scholars that meet HSBC and Chevening criteria.
