The Chevening Alumni General Elective Assembly took place on Saturday 16 May at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Yaounde.

The key objectives for the newly elected team includes strengthening relationships with alumni and scholars in Cameroon, and working in partnership with the British High Commission in Yaounde to promote Chevening in the other countries covered by the mission: Chad, Central African Republic (CAR), Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea.

The President elect, Mr. Sanyi Emmanuel Sanyi congratulated the outgoing executive members led by Mr. Ephraim Banda for the useful contributions in keeping the alumni together during their term of office and especially for encouraging more professionals to apply for the 2015/2016 Chevening Scholarship scheme.

Speaking at the event, the British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Brian Olley said:

‘This is an historic moment for the exclusive Chevening Alumni Association. We are on the cusp of a population explosion – but one that is very welcome and due to the greatly increased number of scholarships that we can now offer, up from two last year to 18 this year. All the scholarships are fully funded one year Master’s degree courses in the UK. This is an exciting time for the association and those who are here today are very much the founding members who are playing a key role in steering us to an even more successful future.’

  • President – Sanyi Emmanuel Sanyi
  • Vice President- Ngum Beatrice Ngufor
