Our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have returned home after spending a year in the UK during which they studied hard, built their networks, and became acquainted with British culture.

British Embassies and High Commissions all over the world celebrated their return by throwing welcome home events. It is here that our newest cohort of Chevening Alumni receive their Chevening completion certificates, become inducted into the alumni community at home, and showcase all they learnt in the UK.

This next stage of the Chevening adventure is an opportunity for the new alumni to make a difference. As Thomas Carter, the British Ambassador to Guatemala, reminded the nation’s returning scholars: ‘Our aim is to give Guatemalan high achievers the support to realise their potential to the full – to help build a more prosperous and stable Guatemala’.

Over in Fiji, the British High Commissioner Melanie Hopkins reiterated how the ‘scholarships enable you to develop your networks, experience UK culture, experience a world class university, and in many cases build long lasting positive relationships in the UK’.

In Tanzania, the Hon. Prof. Joyce Lazaro Ndalichako, Minister of Education, was in attendance.

These positive sentiments have been echoed all over the world. Have a look at the photo gallery below to see how some of the UK diplomatic missions marked the return of the Class of 2015.
