Overview
The Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
It’s for mid-career professionals from India with demonstrable leadership potential in cyber security or cyber policy.
Fellows will explore policy and legislative approaches to cyber security, focussing on the implications for national security, commercial opportunity, crime prevention, and the right to privacy.
The fellowship will take place at Cranfield University, at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom (Shrivenham campus).

The duration of this fellowship is 10 weeks.

The Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for exceptional candidates to develop their leadership skills in relation to:
- Cyber threats, including the evolving threat landscape, national security implications, internet governance, and the protection of critical infrastructure
- The economics of online business, consumer awareness and protection, challenges in technology adoption, the role of open source, and effective use of technology by consumers
- Cybercrime and internet law, covering economic impacts, domestic and international responses, law enforcement, privacy issues, social media misuse, and accountability online
Fellows will gain:
- In-depth knowledge of cyber threat landscapes and national security challenges to better protect critical infrastructure
- Practical skills in cyber risk assessment, internet governance, and technology adoption for securing digital economies
- Expertise in cyber law, policy, and cybercrime response, including strategies for privacy protection and combating online threats effectively

Eligibility
In addition to meeting our standard eligibility criteria, you must:
- Be a citizen of India and currently live in the country
- Have a postgraduate level qualification and an excellent academic background in science, engineering, or technology, or equivalent professional training, or experience in a relevant area at the time of application
- Have at least seven years’ relevant work experience prior to applying
- Have significant relevant work experience in cyber security or cyber policy issues. Relevant experience could come from policy organisations, academia, corporate law, law enforcement, or journalism.
- Have an excellent academic background in science, engineering, or technology, or considerable experience of working in such fields
- Have a demonstrable record of leadership and/or innovation
