Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarships programme. We offer awards to study in the UK for one year on a master’s degree course at any UK university.

Successful Chevening candidates come from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds, but they all demonstrate the passion, vision and skills needed to shape a better world. You’ll return home equipped with the knowledge and networks to achieve your career goals and action your ideas for positive change.

Awards available in Iceland

Chevening Awards in Iceland are funded by our partners, the Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise and the UK Space Agency. Read the information below to understand the difference between the two scholarships and how to apply.

1. Chevening Confederation of Icelandic Enterprise (SA) Scholarship

Chevening SA Scholarships are part-funded. You will be expected to self-fund any remaining costs. You can apply to study any postgraduate course at any UK university under this award.

What’s included?

A £10,000 contribution for course fees paid directly to the university.

The value of a Chevening Award not only includes a financial contribution from the UK government, but you’ll also have the experience of a lifetime and an opportunity to join an international network of over 55,000 leaders.

Who is eligible?

Candidates from Iceland applying to study within the field of finance, business or economic related courses.

2. Chevening – UK Space Agency (UKSA) Iceland STEM Scholarship

What’s included?

  • Payment of tuition fees
  • Economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only
  • An arrival allowance
  • The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application for you only
  • A departure allowance
  • A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, where this is required
  • A travel-top up allowance
  • A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses. The monthly stipend will depend on whether you are studying inside or outside London. These rates are subject to annual review.

Who is eligible?

Candidates from Iceland applying to study STEM related subjects at any Chevening eligible UK university.

Further information

The application process is the same regardless of whether you are applying for a central Iceland Scholarship or a Chevening – UKSA Iceland STEM Scholarship.

Candidates will be considered against the standard Chevening selection process.

Following interviews, the highest scoring, eligible candidate for each scholarship will be offered the award.
