Be a leader: Shaping the changing world

We look forward to welcoming you to Chevening Conference 2021, held in partnership with the University of Edinburgh.

Thursday, 3 June 2021
Online
All-day

  • Learn about leadership from your fellow scholars, who will be presenting their research related to our conference theme.
  • Listen to fascinating talks from academics from the University of Edinburgh, as well as Dr John Murton, the UK government’s envoy to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
  • Network with scholars from universities around the UK and connect with leading academics.
  • Contribute your own ideas to thought-provoking debate on leadership.

Chevening Conference is the third-largest event in the Chevening calendar, providing an environment that encourages discussion between scholars, and collaboration across subjects. The conference gives scholars the chance to present their ideas on inspiring change at a local, national or global level.

This year’s conference explores the theme: “Be a leader: Shaping the Changing World”, and our scholar presenters will share their ideas and research in response to this theme. You will have the chance to contribute to discussions through our digital platform and continue these conversations virtually with presenters in the networking area. We are also excited to welcome Dr John Murton as our keynote speaker. Dr Murton is UK envoy to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) taking place in Glasgow later this year.

Topics under discussion at the conference include technology, development, human rights and conflict, environment, law and social justice, and public policy and governance. You can see the full programme for the day below.

The event is open to all current Chevening Scholars and you can watch or listen to as many presentations as you like. You can book your ticket through the link below; the password can be found in the May Scholargram.
