1. Select a UK foreign policy area

Identify which area your project aligns with and explain how your project supports it.

2. Describe your activities

Outline the immediate and tangible products and services your project will deliver. Be specific and realistic about the activities you’ll deliver. Well-designed activities that reach the right audiences are more valuable than numbers alone.

3. Explain the impact

Describe the impact of your project, including the challenge or problem it will address. We’re looking for clear, measurable impact. Think about what will improve as a result of your project. Strong proposals will explain not just what will happen, but why it matters.

4. Provide participant numbers

Share planned participant numbers. For example, how many people do you expect to attend face-to-face or online activities?

5. Raise the profile of Chevening

How will your project help raise the profile of Chevening? Aim to set three measurable targets for increasing Chevening’s visibility as an impactful scholarships programme, and report back on these when it comes to evaluating the success of your project.

CAPF projects are evaluated based on:

  • Alignment with local priorities, FCDO impact areas, and CAPF objectives
  • Scoring against essential and desirable criteria
  • Previous CAPF funding and the outcomes of those projects

We’re looking for applicants who can demonstrate how their CAPF project aligns with UK foreign policy priorities. These priorities include:

  • Promoting growth and prosperity
  • Building resilience in a climate-vulnerable world
  • Strengthening security and stability in a volatile world
  • Supporting development for more inclusive and effective societies

The Chevening Secretariat will share bid outcomes with your Chevening Officer in May 2026, who will then notify bidders on the Secretariat’s behalf.

Owners of successful projects will be required to submit an evaluation of the impact of your project. Please keep an eye on your inbox.
