One of the UK’s top 15 universities (The Times/Sunday Times 2018), we are proud to offer excellent academic, social, and cultural facilities to over 15,000 students.

Since its foundation in 1963, the university’s commitment to achieving international standards of academic excellence has seen it placed in the world’s top 200 universities (Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018), and achieve ‘Gold’ status in the UK Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (2017-2020).

The UEA campus itself is home to a unique, multi-cultural community, contributing to a lively social and cultural scene.

Norwich is just two hours from London and boasts some eight theatres, five museums, four cinemas, two cathedrals, and a castle, as well as modern developments such as The Forum, Millennium Library, and a regional BBC studio.

Chevening and the University of East Anglia

The University of East Anglia has received excellent Chevening Scholars for many years and been a country partner of Chevening in many different locations around the globe.

UEA says:

‘We have enjoyed hosting and visiting regional Chevening receptions with our scholars and helping to ensure that both they and our institution make the most of their stay with UEA in the UK.’

‘We wish to attract the best possible candidates to come to study with us; those individuals who will make a real difference to their future communities. Supporting future leaders is an excellent investment not only for our institution but also for the global community.’

Who do UEA support?

The University of East Anglia welcomes all Chevening applicants, but this year is also generously co-funding a number of awards open to applicants who wish to study eligible courses within:

  • The Faculty of Science
  • The Faculty of Arts and Humanities
  • The Faculty of Social Science
  • The Faculty of Medicine and Health

All applicants who wish to be considered for an award at UEA are encouraged to select the university as their first preference in their Chevening application.

#CheveningTours visits University of East Anglia

What’s it like to study at East Anglia? We invited Scholars to take us on a tour of their universities to offer us a real insight into the scholar experience.

You can watch Rocio Fernanda Garza’s tour below, which she filmed in June; Rocio is from Mexico and studying an MA in International Social Development.
