Jeffrey Cheah Foundation

Adopting a social enterprise model, the not-for-profit Jeffrey Cheah Foundation is the largest of its kind in advancing education in Malaysia with a unique structure designed in perpetuity for private educational institutions.

The Foundation owns and governs Sunway Education Group (SEG) whose operating surpluses are disbursed as scholarships and research grants. Governed by a distinguished Board of Trustees, the Foundation aims to safeguard the institutions for the purpose of providing and sustaining quality education for present and future generations of students.

Chevening and the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation

The Chevening / Jeffrey Cheah Foundation Scholarship will be open to nationals of Malaysia, who would normally be residents in Malaysia and be located there at the time of making an application.

One scholarship will be awarded to a scholar to study a master’s course related to medical, physical or life sciences at the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, or Lancaster University.

Successful candidates who are accepted by Cambridge or Oxford will be encouraged to apply for membership of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, or Brasenose College, Oxford.

How does the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation benefit from partnering with Chevening?

Apart from expanding the Foundation’s network through Chevening’s global network of alumni and its exclusive events, the partnership also supports the educational and professional aspirations of talented individuals in-country, which is a key indicator of corporate social responsibility.
