Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos

Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos is a nonprofit organisation founded in the Republic of Panama in 1996 by Banco General, the first Panamanian private bank.  The organisation is an integral part of Banco General’s ESG initiatives, investing in the community through programmes implemented directly or through other specialized nonprofit institutions and groups that operate in the geographic areas where Banco General conducts business.

Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos’ efforts reside mainly in education, healthcare, community development programs and additional initiatives that address the most pressing social issues across Panama. This partnership supports applicatns from the Republic of Paname studying Finance, Development or any other field of interest for the Republic of Panama.

For 14 years, Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos has provided scholarships to students transitioning from primary to secondary education, granting them the opportunity to complete 7^th to 12^th grade in a private institution. To date, 167 students currently attend private schools, 221 have graduated from high school, 57 have graduated from university and 60 are working professionals.  In 2020, a university scholarship was created to complement this program; there are currently 6 alumni attending university at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico and Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.

As a corporate foundation, Fundación Sus Buenos Vecinos plays a significant role in Banco General’s commitment to giving back to society and making a positive impact beyond its core banking operations.
