Verity Wilkes

Senior Programme Officer – Fellowships

Verity grew up in the UK in rural Shropshire and then by the coast in Cornwall. Before her Bachelor’s, she spent time travelling around Australia and New Zealand before heading back to the UK to complete her BA in History and American Studies at the University of Nottingham, at which time she also spent a year studying in the USA.

She joined the Chevening Secretariat in 2015 and has previously worked as a Programme Officer – International with countries in South Asia, East Asia, ASEAN and Oceania. Prior to Chevening, Verity worked in student support, widening participation, and undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment at the University of Southampton.

Verity is passionate about travelling and exploring new places, both in the UK and further afield, but she also enjoys taking in the arts and cultural opportunities in her adopted home of London.

Mark Ashe

Programme Officer – Fellowships

Mark grew up in Lancashire and studied Politics with International Relations at the University of York. After leaving university, Mark worked for the University of York as a Volunteering Programmes Officer, getting students involved in volunteering projects. Mark has also previously worked as a Grants Officer for Cancer Research UK.

In his spare time Mark plays football and badminton, having played at university. Mark also loves scuba diving and has dived with sharks and whales (although admittedly, not in London!). Mark’s passions include following his favourite football team Sheffield United and listening to pop punk music, which he never really grew out of.
