Do you provide travel insurance?

Chevening does not provide travel insurance. We cannot accept responsibility for lost baggage or your onward travel, so we encourage you to take out travel insurance.

Will I receive a departure allowance?

If you’re on a full award, you’ll receive a £150 departure allowance with your final stipend. Please check your Final Award Letter to confirm your eligibility for this payment, which will be made once your flight booking is confirmed. The allowance covers costs like baggage, shipping, personal belongings, travel to the airport, or flight amendments.

Do I need a transit visa when returning home?

You may need to transit through one or more countries on your journey home. Please check the details with Chevening’s travel provider. I need extra baggage. What should I do?

You must contact the airline directly for requests for extra baggage. You’ll need to use your departure allowance to cover the cost. Please note that most airlines charge for sports equipment.
