Please contact Chevening’s travel provider directly. We cannot cover the costs of any changes to flights, and you must return home before your visa end date.

You may remain in the UK until your visa expiry date which can be found on your eVisa. You must book your return flight to depart no later than one week before your visa end date.

Yes, you must use Chevening’s travel provider to book your flight home. Chevening is not responsible for tickets booked through other providers and cannot support you in the case of flight cancellations or disruptions.

If you have a booking number, someone will get back to you in due course. Please do be patient and avoid repeated contact, as this will only cause further delays.

Please try to avoid booking a flight that leaves the UK between 19 December and the first working day in January as your programme officer will not be available during this time if you need support.

Our travel company will send us a copy of your flight information. If we have not received this by your booking deadline, your final stipend payment and departure allowance will be withheld until we you do. We use the official date on your Final Award Letter, not the date on your CAS letter, which may differ. Chevening is unable to support with any queries about your course end date.

Our terms and conditions require all scholars to return to their country/territory of award for a period of two years immediately following the completion of their award. Please visit our travelling home after your award page for more information about the end of your scholarship.

No, Chevening Scholars cannot apply for a Graduate route visa. When you accept a Chevening Award, you agree to return home for two years at the end of your scholarship.

Your departure allowance will be paid with your final stipend payment.
