Is there an age limit for Chevening Award applications?
No. There is no upper age limit to be eligible for a Chevening Award.
I have previously received a Chevening Scholarship, can I apply for a fellowship?
Yes, however you must wait five years after finishing your scholarship before you can apply for a fellowship.
I have already received financial benefit from a different UK government-funded programme. Can I still apply for a Chevening Award?
No. You cannot apply for a Chevening Scholarship if you have previously received funding from another UK government scholarship programme to study in the UK. Do I need to submit proof of my work experience in my Chevening application form?
You are asked to provide details of your work experience in the application form. This includes the name of your employer(s), job title(s), and dates of employment. If you are shortlisted to interview, you will be asked to provide references, which will be verified by the British embassy or high commission.
I don’t yet have two years of work experience, but I will by the time my course starts. Can I still apply for Chevening?
Applicants must meet the minimum work experience requirement before submitting their application. Applicants whose work experience amounts to less than the minimum amount will not be considered for an award.
What types of work experience are accepted by Chevening?
The types of work experience that are eligible for Chevening include full-time employment; part-time employment; voluntary work; and paid or unpaid internships. Work experience must be acquired after graduating from your undergraduate studies. Fellowship programmes may have additional requirements which you should check on the relevant programme page.
Should my work experience relate to the course I want to study?
Chevening applicants must have at least two year’s work experience (or 2,800 hours) of work experience, acquired after the completion of their undergraduate degree.
