The Chevening English language requirement has been removed for applicants applying to study from 2020/2021 onwards. Candidates will still need to meet all requirements from their chosen university and secure an unconditional offer from one of their three course choices by the Chevening deadline.
Chevening are unable to determine the equivalence of non-UK grading systems. Applicants are advised to contact their universities of interest directly for more information about the equivalency of their degree.
You have three attempts to complete the eligibility questionnaire. If you are unsuccessful after your third attempt, we recommend you apply again next year.
Applicants are only exempt from taking the English language test if they are either citizens of one of the exempt countries or they have undertaken their undergraduate studies (or higher) in one of the exempt countries. A full list of exempt countries can be found here.

No. There is no upper age limit to be eligible for a Chevening Award.
Yes, however you must wait five years after finishing your scholarship before you can apply for a fellowship. For example, a Chevening Alumnus who studied for a master’s degree in the UK between 2008 and 2009 will only be eligible to apply for a fellowship programme from 2014/2015.
