Scholar competitions

Below is a list of competitions run throughout the academic year. You will find more details, including all of the prizes to be won in your monthly scholargram!

Further details on these competitions will be revealed in your monthly scholargram. Prizes range from an annual membership with English Heritage to a voucher that covers the price of a theatre show or concert of your choice!

 

October 2022

Scholars will be asked to tell us a ghost story. It can either be something that has happened to them or a story that is traditional in their home country.

There will be 2 winners for this competition

 

November 2022

Scholars will be asked to make a Christmas decoration or card.

 

December 2022

Scholars will be asked to pitch an idea for a Chevening Christmas gathering.

There will be 4 winners for this competition

 

January 2023

Scholars will be asked to reflect on something they are most proud of in the past year and how they hope to develop themselves professionally in 2023.

There will be 2 winners for this competition

 

February 2023

Scholars will be asked to share what they love most about the UK.

 

March 2023

Scholars will be asked to test their art skills by drawing or painting a picture that best captures British spring time.

 

April 2023

Scholars will be asked to share their top-tip for maintaining good wellbeing and keeping calm and focussed whilst studying.

 

May 2023

Scholars will be asked to make a sandwich that best captures their home country or personality.

 

Terms and Conditions

By entering this competition, you accept the following terms and conditions:

1. The competition is open to current (2022/23) Chevening Scholars only.

2. There is a limit to one entry, per scholar, per competition.

3. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges from the Chevening Secretariat. The panel will vote for their favourite entries. The entries with the greatest number of votes will be declared the winner.

4. Entries must be received by the stated competition deadline. Any entries submitted after the closing date and time will not be included in the prize draw.

5. If you are not contacted by the Chevening Secretariat, please assume that you have not won the entered competition.

6. The Chevening Secretariat may use any content submitted for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes. By participating in this competition, you assign the copyright of your entries to the Chevening Secretariat.

7. The prize is non-refundable and a cash-equivalent may not be issued under any circumstance.

8. The winner must confirm that they wish to claim their prize by the stated date for each competition, otherwise the Chevening Secretariat will assume you do not want it.

9. In the event that the winner(s) of the prize does not claim their prize by the deadline, they will forfeit the prize and a first runner-up and second-runner up will be selected. The prize will then be offered as follows:

· If the winner does not respond by the stated deadline, the first runner-up will be offered the prize and will be given a new deadline to respond.

· If the first runner-up does not claim the prize, it will be offered to the second runner-up who will be given a new deadline to respond.

· If the third runner-up does not claim the prize by the final deadline, the prize will be withdrawn.
