Housing the largest population in Wales, with three international universities (Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of South Wales) you’ll find a thriving community upon your visit.

Bute Park
Bute Park is the green heart of Cardiff, full of history and wildlife. Adjacent to Cardiff Castle, you’ll find a barrage of events happening as well as luscious pathways for more quiet walks. For events happening in Bute Park – visit their website.
Cardiff and Castell Coch
If you’ve still not visited a castle in your time here in the UK, you can make a quick and easy trip to Cardiff Castle which is minutes from the shopping district. The castle’s walls and fairy-tale towers conceal 2,000 years of history – it’s a great place to explore. For a younger castle with more bizarre history, head up north to visit Castle Coch (the Red Castle) an hour from the city if you take public transport.
Cardiff Bay
The old Cardiff docklands have been redeveloped in the last decade to create Cardiff Bay. The National Assembly for Wales, or Senedd, is a stone’s throw away from a great backdrop to the harbour. The Cardiff Bay Wetlands Reserve is a wildlife reserve of approximately eight hectares. It’s a great place to see rare birds and a boardwalk leading to a viewing platform. You could take the Cardiff Waterbus along the River Taff to get there.
