Chevening fellow teaching resilience to drive global change

Eika Banerjee has a deep passion for teaching people the skills to build resilience and lead happier, healthier lives. After completing a Chevening Fellowship in 2018, Eika founded EIKAM, a nonprofit organisation that sets out to improve people’s quality of life through a holistic approach to wellbeing. 

EIKAM combines coaching, leadership programmes, and community events to help people manage stress, break harmful habits, and enhance their physical and emotional health. Over the past five years, the organisation has helped nearly one million people by offering tools such as mindfulness training and emotional intelligence development to meet the demands of modern life.  

EIKAM has worked with some of India’s top organisations, helping them navigate cultural transformations and training employees in emotional intelligence and resilience. 

“EIKAM has been a strong force for good, especially during the stressful Covid pandemic years,” says Eika. 

Expanding across the globe 

EIKAM’s impact has so far been primarily in India, but Eika has her sights set on the global stage. She is working to expand the organisation’s reach into Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.  

Through strategic global partnerships, EIKAM aims to aims to share its approach to health, happiness, and resilience with communities worldwide. 

Chevening’s impact 

Eika feels the Chevening Gurukul Fellowship for Leadership played a crucial role in her journey.  

“The Chevening Fellowship came at a pivotal moment. It helped me think differently about how to make a real impact and gave me a strong network to build on.” 

With the skills and connections gained from Chevening, Eika was able to pivot from corporate leadership to social innovation. 

Eika’s story highlights the powerful impact of the Chevening Fellowship in helping individuals with visionary ideas make a real difference in home countries and beyond.
