Hackney Herbal online workshops – ongoing
Hackney Herbal, a social enterprise that teaches you how to incorporate herbs into their lives in the form of recipes, skincare and natural remedies, has moved its workshops online during lockdown. Upcoming workshops in March include Growing Herbs, Growing Your Own Food and Essential Oils for the Face. Workshops are all priced £20 and all profits reinvested into free community activities in Hackney.
The Sofa Singers is a free, twice-weekly online singing event that aims to bring people together, offering 45 minutes of simultaneous singing for hundreds of people in real time. You’ll learn a classic song with some optional harmonies and backing parts, and then just sing as if no-one is listening! Afterwards, there’s a virtual tea break followed by some ‘open mic’ slots where you can say hello and share a song, a poem or a story. Book a single session for free or become a paid-up member for access to all sessions for £10 a month.
Scotland’s International Poetry Festival 2021, 6- 14 March
StAnza is one of the top poetry festivals in the UK- Make it New is one of their 2021 themes so this online festival brings St Andrews to you virtually, in installations and games and virtual poetry walks, along with all the performances from more than 100 poets and other artists. Take part in a wide range of workshops, masterclasses and open mic events, or enjoy Zoom chatting in the lively virtual festival café. Most events are free to access on a Pay-What-You-Can basis.
