  1. Read the guidance  Make sure you read the information on your country page  and the Chevening Programme terms and conditions. You may also find it helpful to read our Chevening Key Fact Sheet, and the answers to some of our Frequently asked questions.

  2. Check your eligibility  Make sure you meet the Chevening eligibility criteria.

  3. University applications  Think carefully about the UK University courses you wish to apply to, as you will be asked to write these on your application form. Visit the Study in the UK page and the ‘What courses should I apply to?’ section of our FAQs for more information.

  4. Referees  Think carefully about whom you wish to select as your two academic/professional referees, as you will be asked to write their details on your application form. You can find more information in the references section of our FAQs.

  5. English language requirement  There may be limited test availability in your country, so you should consider how you will meet the Chevening minimum English language requirement now. Visit the English language requirement page for further information.

  6. Work experience requirement  Make sure you have at least two years' work experience before you make an application. Visit the Work experience requirement page for information on how to calculate the required amount of hours worked.
