'It is my privilege being the first Chevening Scholar from Cambodia to study at Warwick. Pursuing my MA in International Relations in PAIS is a mind-opening intellectual journey evidently because of its world-leading research excellence and environment in which lively and quality debate around diversity of perspectives is a standing norm. As a PAIS student, I meaningfully have the freedom to extend beyond the ‘traditional’ subject lines of enquiry in broadening and deepening my horizon in pressing issues in contemporary political life, enlightened by varying theoretical approaches in International Relations discipline. Also, I now discern an important learning principle that the more I learn, the more I realise the less I know. It seems ongoing but I think this is good. It is not about being confused in the way I am understanding things, but it is about trying to understand my confusions.
In PAIS and Warwick at large, I oftentimes take advantages of ‘PAIS Extras’ and other welfare services. Amongst them, I particularly like the ‘advice and feedback hours’ as it gives me the opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with professors—active researchers and authors to interactively discuss my assessed works and other engaging research topics, which I find extremely useful and encouraging.
Speaking from the social front, my student life at Warwick is very enriching. Warwick really amazes me by the eclectic variety of extra-curricular activities it has to offer – a selection of more than 250 societies that I usually have excitingly tough time in deciding which ones to partake. Moreover, I have enjoyed immensely being a Postgraduate Ambassador in assisting prospective applicants and offer-holders and further contributing to Warwick’s existing postgraduate community through various forms of representation and a variety of independent projects.
Studying at Warwick is beyond question a first-class boarding pass in accessing genuine global knowledge and the very spectacular international experiences. More importantly, I am proud to make many friends from diverse cultural backgrounds who, after finishing their courses at Warwick, carry on different professions connectedly sprinkle on every part of the world.
