On Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 October, Chevening Alumni hosted a ground-breaking forum on the topic of Public Policy and Behavioural Sciences in Montevideo, Uruguay. The event, which received funding from the Chevening Alumni Programme Fund (CAPF), marked a pivotal moment for Uruguay, as it was the first forum of its kind in the country’s history. It was a truly collaborative effort, bringing together Chevening Alumni from 15 Latin American countries to discuss pressing issues facing policy makers in the region. Read more

Our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have returned home after spending a year in the UK during which they studied hard, built their networks, and became acquainted with British culture. British Embassies and High Commissions all over the world celebrated their return by throwing welcome home events. It is here that our newest cohort of Chevening Alumni receive their Chevening completion certificates, become inducted into the alumni community at home, and showcase all they learnt in the UK. On 22 June, the Rt Hon Hugo Swire, Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office presided at an event that brought together 40 scholars from Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Peru and the ambassadors of those countries to mark the launch of a new set of Chevening Scholarships for 2015/2016 – the FCO Pacific Alliance Chevening Scholarships. The Pacific Alliance was founded in 2011 and provides participating countries a free trade area paving the way for education and innovation exchange and development. The UK is an interested observer in the process. Read more
