With a mandate to influence policy on a national scale, the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development (QRF) has been focussed on translating and realising Her Majesty’s vision for Jordan, working to regain its competitiveness in the region and beyond, and to develop innovative solutions to both long standing and arising challenges in order to enable its people to realise their aspirations for a better life.
Through research and program development, the foundation aims to improve opportunities for children and youth, and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and values that will empower them to excel in a fast-paced, competitive world. QRF seeks to create or localise impactful, innovative, and sustainable interventions that have global relevance, and an impact-focused and evidence-driven approach to learning is used to develop resilient, student-centered and tech-enabled educational models.
Reform starts with a comprehensive understanding of the strengths, but also the gaps and challenges, of the educational system, and research enables the identification of the game changers that address them. Delivered through one or more of its nine affiliated organisations and initiatives, these programs reflect Her Majesty’s vision for educational reform.
Education is the foundation for social, economic, and political development, and QRF’s work covers all its different components but brings its weight to bear on the main enabling agents of change: pre-service teacher education and continuous training; curricula and assessment; and the transformative power of technology to both universalise access and guarantee quality and equity in the educational services received by learners at different stages of their development with a focus on K-12.
Therefore, by necessity, the programs that are implemented by QRF’s affiliations focus heavily on pre-service teacher education and in-service teacher training, integrating technology in education, but also on school rehabilitation, teacher recognition, child protection, learning through play, and creating supportive science and health awareness programs that complement the public education offering. QRF strives to assist in giving an edge to Jordan’s human resources and economy by continuing to address the challenges that obstruct the delivery of quality education to all.
Chevening and the Queen Rania Foundation
The Queen Rania Foundation believes that Chevening offers Jordan’s youth a unique opportunity in becoming future leaders, influencers, policy and decision makers, which is a big part of what QRF aims to do—improving opportunities for youth and equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values that will empower them to excel in a fast-paced, competitive world.
