Who is more inspirational than the young leaders who achieved excellence through Chevening?  With this in mind, the British Consulate General in Jerusalem organised a series of TED Talk-style events to inspire others and bring in the motivational spirit. The Chevening programme in the Occupied Palestinian Territories has more than 250 alumni, who have become distinguished leaders and influencers in a variety of fields including medicine, science, economics, the arts, and humanities. The Chevening Relay has begun again, the aim of which is to encourage Cheveners to collaborate, network, be creative and take collective responsibility for a common goal. Whilst scholars are on their award, they are also encouraged to travel around and visit the cultural and natural wonders on offer here in the UK. The Chevening Relay is a great way for our scholars to visit new and exciting cities other than their own.   Read more

On 3 November at the British Embassy in Mexico City, a fascinating conference took place titled Latest trends in international trade and its effects on the policies of the countries. Mexico’s Current stance: Globalization vs Protectionism. The Mexican Chevening Alumni Association (MCAA) partnered with the LSE Mexican Alumni Association, PricewaterhouseCoopers Mexico (PwC), and the UK Alumni Association Mexico to deliver this conference. They brought together high profile experts on international trade to debate what is a hot international topic at the moment. Read more

Seven scholars, as well as representatives from the Chevening Secretariat, visited BAE Systems Military Air and Information sites at Warton and Samlesbury in Lancashire on 22 and 23 November 2016. They were hosted by senior BAE Systems representatives and given an overview of the business, as well as visiting their advanced manufacturing and Typhoon final assembly facilities. Seven of the eight Malaysian scholars, generously co-funded by BAE Systems for the 2016/2017 academic year, took part in the visit. Read more

New Chevening Scholars

1,900 Chevening Scholars were officially welcomed to the UK at an inspirational welcome event hosted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) at ExCeL London. Chevening Orientation, the largest event in the Chevening calendar, is an opportunity for all scholars to meet each other for the first time and to start building networks that will last throughout their lives.  Read more
