1,890 Chevening Scholars came together to celebrate a successful year as part of the programme on Wednesday, 5 July at London’s historic Alexandra Palace. It was a chance for scholars to say goodbye to one another, look back on a year of study and cultural activities in the UK, and also to open up new opportunities as the scholars become part of the global Chevening Alumni network. On 23 March 2017, former Chevening Scholars gathered at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi for a gala dinner, the launchpad for the new Chevening Kenya Chapter. The Chevening Alumni Group Network spent months planning the official launch and dinner, which was hosted by the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Nic Hailey, and attended by other officials from the high commission. Our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have returned home after spending a year in the UK during which they studied hard, built their networks, and became acquainted with British culture. British Embassies and High Commissions all over the world celebrated their return by throwing welcome home events. It is here that our newest cohort of Chevening Alumni receive their Chevening completion certificates, become inducted into the alumni community at home, and showcase all they learnt in the UK. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and global healthcare company GSK have announced a new partnership that will enable future leaders in health-related professions to study in the UK under a Chevening/GSK Scholarship. Read more

Nearly 40 Chevening Scholars participated in roundtable discussions with staff at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in order to strengthen mutual understanding of the UK’s engagement with Africa, and the continent’s future prospects. Read more
