1,890 Chevening Scholars came together to celebrate a successful year as part of the programme on Wednesday, 5 July at London’s historic Alexandra Palace. It was a chance for scholars to say goodbye to one another, look back on a year of study and cultural activities in the UK, and also to open up new opportunities as the scholars become part of the global Chevening Alumni network. The Chevening Relay has begun again, the aim of which is to encourage Cheveners to collaborate, network, be creative and take collective responsibility for a common goal. Whilst scholars are on their award, they are also encouraged to travel around and visit the cultural and natural wonders on offer here in the UK. The Chevening Relay is a great way for our scholars to visit new and exciting cities other than their own.   Read more

One of the challenges faced by Eastern Caribbean alumni is one of sheer geography. The seven countries within the grouping are hundreds of miles distant from one another with limited and expensive transport options. At a local level, all the islands have their own alumni group, each of which numbers 20–30 members.   Read more

Chevening Scholars were invited to attend the Commonwealth Day Service at the iconic Westminster Abbey. The day was especially significant for Chevening Scholars as one scholar, Kishva Ambigapathy, was asked to lead the Royal Family during the procession as the bearer of the Commonwealth Mace. Ten of our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have been selected to represent this year's cohort as Social Media Ambassadors (SMAs). More than 50 scholars applied to be part of the programme, and after assessing all of their applications, the Secretariat is delighted to announce the ten who stood out from the crowd. Read more

Alecia Maragh, a Chevening Scholar from Jamaica, recently spoke at the Annual TEDx Student competition at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). As one of Chevening's Social Media Ambassadors, Alecia inspires people from across the globe on a daily basis to better themselves and push for their goals - and in particular to become a Chevening Scholar. However, she decided it was time to spread her thoughts in a more demanding setting - on a stage with nowhere to hide. After the event, she told us her story. Read more
