More than £4,000 worth of clothing can now be sold by Oxfam thanks to a group of Chevening Scholars. The group visited the Oxfam Southern Logistics Centre, to assist with uploading items of clothing to the Oxfam website. Clothing, which arrives in bulk on a daily basis, needed to be sorted, photographed, labelled and finally uploaded, ready for sale to the general public. Read more

1,800 Chevening Scholars were officially welcomed to the UK at an inspirational welcome event hosted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) at ExCeL London. The Orientation Day, the largest event in the Chevening calendar, is an opportunity for all scholars to meet each other for the first time and to start building networks that will last throughout their lives.  Read more

Fourteen Chevening Gurukul Fellows arrived at King’s College London to begin an intensive twelve-week leadership course at the India Institute of the iconic central London university. The Chevening Gurukul Fellowship programme is designed to address issues faced by leaders in all fields, by analysing changing ideas and practices of leadership, and exploring implications of globalisation for Indian leaders. Ten of our 2015/2016 Chevening Scholars have been selected to represent this year's cohort as Social Media Ambassadors (SMAs). More than 50 scholars applied to be part of the programme, and after assessing all of their applications, the Secretariat is delighted to announce the ten who stood out from the crowd. Read more

Tariq Taha, a Chevening Scholar based at Oxford Brookes University, has been selected to take part as a delegate in the Young Diplomats Forum organised by the Global Diplomatic Forum in London. Tariq will be part of the Jordanian delegation when the event takes place in September, with the ambassador of Jordan, H.E. Mazen Homoud, expected to be present. Read more

On Friday 31 July, Bangor University hosted a group of 20 Chevening Scholars on our first overnight event; a weekend of culture and outdoor activities in one of the most stunning and dramatic parts of the UK. The group learned about the history and culture of Wales before visiting the beautiful Penrhyn Castle and trying the traditional folk dance, the Twmpath. Read more
