The Chevening Secretariat is accepting applications for 2017/2018 Chevening Scholarships and some Chevening Fellowships via www.chevening.org/apply from 8 August until 8 November 2016. Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers financial support to study for a master’s degree at any UK university and the opportunity to become part of an influential global network of 46,000 alumni.  Read more

Brazilian alumni in Sao Paolo

Brazilian alumni in Sao Paolo launched the Chevening Legal and Human Rights Network on 2 May 2016. The network is the vision of alumnus Eduardo Paranhos, Senior Legal Director of HP, who studied Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) through a Chevening Scholarship 15 years ago. It aims to bring together Chevening Alumni in the fields of law and human rights to collaborate with each other. Last week, almost 50 Pakistani Chevening and Commonwealth Scholars were welcomed to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office for an evening reception hosted by Mr Tobias Ellwood, Minister for the Middle East at the Foreign Office. H.E. Syed Ibne Abbas High Commissioner also attended the event on Mr Ellwood's invitation. Mrs Delmaude Ryan, Chevening Scholar 2008/2009 was recently sworn in as Montserrat’s new Deputy Premier and Minister of Education, Health & Community Services following the island’s general elections on 11 September. Mrs Ryan’s campaign focused on education, public service leadership, community activism, and volunteerism in Montserrat. Read more
