Chevening marked a special moment in its history at the 2018 Farewell event as the global network of Chevening Alumni reached 50,000. 1,649 departing Chevening Scholars came together to celebrate a year as part of the programme on Wednesday, 4 July at London’s iconic Alexandra Palace. Read more

Seventy Chevening Fellows from seven countries and eight different fellowship programmes were brought together for a special networking reception and dinner on the banks of the River Thames. With experts from across professional sectors and countries all convened in the same space, the evening provided a unique opportunity for fellows to form new relationships and solidify already burgeoning ones. Chevening officers from across the Middle East and North Africa gathered in Dubai for a three-day regional conference in December 2017, during which they also had the opportunity to meet with Chevening Alumni. Chevening officers are responsible for marketing to applicants, selecting scholars, and engaging with alumni in their respective countries. Regional workshops provide a valuable opportunity for them to receive training, share best practice with one another, and discuss some of the particular opportunities and challenges for Chevening in their region. The first ever Japan Chevening Alumni Network (JCAN) event took place on 26 April 2016 in Tokyo. Over 30 alumni gathered at Watahan Ginza Gallery for an evening of professional networking, dialogue, and discovery. Julia Longbottom, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tokyo, was guest of honour in acknowledgement of the support the British Embassy had given in the development of the new association.  Read more
