The Chevening Secretariat is accepting applications for 2017/2018 Chevening Scholarships and some Chevening Fellowships via www.chevening.org/apply from 8 August until 8 November 2016. Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds. The scholarship offers financial support to study for a master’s degree at any UK university and the opportunity to become part of an influential global network of 46,000 alumni.  Read more

Do you want to be involved in the selection of the world's future leaders? If so, we are currently recruiting for the 2017/2018 Chevening Reading Committees. Reading committees play a vital role in the selection of Chevening Scholars and Fellows. Each committee is comprised of a regional assessor and an academic assessor, who assess applications from one or more countries from a particular region of the world. Read more

The first ever Japan Chevening Alumni Network (JCAN) event took place on 26 April 2016 in Tokyo. Over 30 alumni gathered at Watahan Ginza Gallery for an evening of professional networking, dialogue, and discovery. Julia Longbottom, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Tokyo, was guest of honour in acknowledgement of the support the British Embassy had given in the development of the new association.  Read more

On 18 May 2016, the British Ambassador to Nepal Richard Morris hosted the Bicentenary Chevening Reception at his residence in Kathmandu to celebrate the educational and academic ties between Britain and Nepal, raising a glass to the longstanding relationship between the two nations. Brazilian alumni in Sao Paolo

Brazilian alumni in Sao Paolo launched the Chevening Legal and Human Rights Network on 2 May 2016. The network is the vision of alumnus Eduardo Paranhos, Senior Legal Director of HP, who studied Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) through a Chevening Scholarship 15 years ago. It aims to bring together Chevening Alumni in the fields of law and human rights to collaborate with each other. One of the challenges faced by Eastern Caribbean alumni is one of sheer geography. The seven countries within the grouping are hundreds of miles distant from one another with limited and expensive transport options. At a local level, all the islands have their own alumni group, each of which numbers 20–30 members.   Read more

Even though there are no Chevening Scholarships in Latvia anymore, the Chevening Alumni community is active and keen to take part in events organised by the British Embassy Riga. This year the embassy planned a couple of events for Chevening Alumni, many of whom are now working for the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the parliament or in the private sector. Read more
